Here are some preparation work before the surgery like checking the temperature and blood pressure.
Dr. Hernandez confirmed with mom and dad that it was recommended me to do the surgery. Then I met Dr. Nguyen who was a yo
ung, handsome doctor. He explained to mom and dad about the procedure, and he ordered the nurse to give me a dose of purple syrup (Versed), then I felt very relax and happy. I was trying hard to play with the nurses.
I just knew that I had the privilege to be hold by Dr. Nguyen to the operation room while other patients was
moved in with a gurney. After saying goodbye to mom and dad, I went in happily with Dr. Nguyen and his team. The surgery was about 60 minutes and the receptionist paged mom and dad to come back the recovery room at 9:45 am. I was so confused at that time that I moved around a lot. I was told that I peed at Dr. Nguyen. He was trying to comfort me by holding me, but I peed on him. I felt so bad. I heard all the nurses were teasing him that he is ready to have a kid very soon. Moreover, Mom was holding me since she saw me. The nurse gave me another dose of morphine and I went back to sleep very fast.
However, my oxygen level has been dropping. The nurse has to give me a oxygen mask. I don't like the smell at all. So Dr. Nguyen ordered an Albuterol treatment for me.
My oxygen level got a little better around 95-100, however, I spiked a temperature
of 105 right before discharging me home. Of course, I had to stay a little bit longer for monitoring and it was already 1 pm. Both Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Hernandez came to see me again. They told the nurse that I can go home if my oxygen level is above 95. However, it never happened. It stayed around 90 and I still had a fever of 102. The nurse paged the pediatric on-call doctor to see me at 3:30 pm. He listened to my lung and ordered a chest x-ray. Oh no....what happened to me. I just felt so
tired and want to be hold by mom. Mom has been holding me since this morning. The doctor told mom and dad that he may admit me to the holding ward for observation overnight at Bellflower hospital. Luckily the x-ray was clear and he said I can go home tonight, but I have a return appointment with Dr. Tran at 9:15 am tomorrow. However, I still had some fever and they gave me a dose of Ibuprofen before I went home. It was 7 pm already. We were in the hospital for more than 12 hours today. There was one thing mom said I was very good. Whenever the nurses removed the heart rate/BP monitors on
my chest, even my IV line, I did not cry at all. I just lied down quietly and looking at them.
