We went to see a dermatologist Dr. Koe at West LA today. He was a very kind doctor. He confirmed the diagnosis of my birthmark with Nevus of Ota. He does not recommend any laser treatment until I am over 12 years old because I am too young that need sedation. Also, it takes at least 5-6 treatments and each treatment takes around 5 minutes. Moreover, we were lucky that we got a 2nd opinion from a vascular surgeon. He does not recommend the laser treatment too. He recommended to wait for a few years as the technology will be better.
Dr. Koe gave Mom and dad more counseling as he knew that they still couldn't accept the fact that my skin color was not normal. He reassured them that the condition of me is a benign one, and we shouldn't worry too much. We think the doctors' points are reasonable as there are always risks in surgery, as mom and dad also don't feel very comfortable of the idea of putting me in anesthesia... But it is still hard for them to accept. Mom and dad, I will be a Happy bee and make you laugh all day long.
Since we had a doctor appointment this morning, I skipped school today. Hurray!! I took a nap around 2 pm. Again not at the right time as Uncle Johnny was planning to take me to the Huntington Library. Mom told Uncle Johnny to go first and we joined him once I woke up. I slept all the way till 3:45 pm and we make it to the library at 4 pm and just spent 30 minutes walking around. It was alright as I was not the one walking around. Mom and Uncle Johnny took turn holding me anyway...haha!!
Plus, we celebrated Uncle Johnny's birthday tonight.
