Day 12- First birthday party

Today is 爺爺 's 65 years old birthday and this is the first time I attended a birthday party. I did not know what was going to with a cake and candle, nor the birthday song. I just know everyone was very happy and we took lots of pictures. All the people were trying so hard to get my attention.

Day 6

Today, the bilirublin level is 17. Therefore, I still need to stay in the hospital. All the nurses in NICU told dad and mom that I am a very strong baby. Some even said never see a baby as strong as me.

Mom and dad came to visit me at around 8 am and late afternoon. Mom brought in some breast milk to feed me.

I am having a sunbath and it is so relax!!

Am I look as cool as 古天樂 or as cute as ET?

(just to clarify, these chubby fingers are the nurse's, not my mom's)

Day 5

I did not poo since Friday night and couldn't latch on Mom's breast very well, and had been very fussy. The hospital called mom at 11 am and mom told them that I had not have any bowel movement for more than 48 hours. We made an appointment to see the pediatrician and lactation consultant in the afternoon. The funny thing is once we had make an appointment. I poo. The amount was almost 6 x normal bowel movement per dad. We saw the lactation consultant at 2 pm. Dad and mom felt very upset when it was found that I was weighted only 6lbs 2 oz, a loss of almost 20%. Mom need to start feeding me every 2 hours. Then when we went to see the pediatrician, I was pretty "yellow" and the doctor sent us to the lab at once. On the way to lab, I knew mom and dad were so worry. I knew I need to behave well, so I did not cry at all when the lab techician drew blood from my feet. I surprised mom and dad as they were prepared for me to scream. The result of bilirubin level was 22, I had to admit to NICU (>20) for fluorescent light treatment. Mom was so worry that she cried when she talked to 婆婆. After all the paperwork was completed, they went back home for dinner. They came to visit me at 8 pm. I missed them so much that I was crying and screaming inside the box. My heartbeat was up to 150s, even dad started crying at that moment. The nurse finally asked dad is it okay to give me a pacifier? Dad said yes and it finally calm me down.

Day 3

It was a frustrating night. Me, mom and dad were not able to go to sleep. I was very fussy and I did not poo for 24 hours now. Mom was calling every help line.

Dad and I took a nap after a sleepless night.

Day 2

I am going home today!! After we finished all the paperwork and hearing test in the morning, I was discharged from the hospital. Although I was kind of fussy and cried a lot, mom and dad were able to leave the hospital by 2 pm. Actually, we were supposed to go back home for lunch, however, I was so hungry that mom had to feed me again before we left the hospital.

The first time I sat at the car seat was wired. It was still too big for me no matter how Dad had adjusted the seat belt. I cried and screamed for help. But once we got on the freeway, it was so comfortable that I felt asleep right away. It was a good drive. Dad, thanks for the new car.

Day 1

The first night at hospital was tiring. All grandparents 爺爺嫲嫲, 公公婆婆 visited me last night and brought some food and soup for mom. Mom felt so tired, but she didn't sleep much the whole night as she was trying to breastfeed me. Plus, her left leg was so numb that she was not able to stand until this morning. Somehow I was very cute, but very fussy. The nurses were very nice, however, they were not very helpful to calm me down. Every time after a nurse calm me down, I could only sleep for a while and began to fussy again. I guess I need to take some time to adjust this new world. However, mom and dad said my cry was not as loud or bad as the baby next door.

There was some funny incidents. When the Pediatrician checked on my eyes with a strong light this morning, being a strong boy, I was able to "escape" by kicking against the border of the bed in a "frog like" position and moved away. She has to pull me back several times.

Mom and dad did lots of paperwork for me and I did some genetic tests in the afternoon. Thanks grandaunt Christina and auntie Karen visiting me today. Also, thanks all the grandparents running back and forth to the hospital again.
